Prahastha was brother to Ravana's mother Kaikashi

Prahasta was appointed as commander-in-chief of Ravana's army. He leads Ravana's army in the wars against Yama, Kubera, and the Gods, and the Demons and Daityas. He was so powerful that he conquers all nine grahas, Planets. He stood rock solid

((Please read the detailed story of Prahastha.)

Prahasta was the heroic commander of Ravana, the king of Lanka. After Akampana died in the battle, Ravana sent his brave commander Prahasta to fight. Prahasta fought a fierce battle with the apes-army of Rama. His demon army terrified the apes for once. At this time, innumerable monkeys died. The war between the monkey commander Neel and Prahasta was very fierce.

Ravana was hurt by Akampana's death, deeply. He could not even rest peacefully at night. The next day he called the ministers and said, "The army of monkeys has proved to be more powerful and mighty than we imagined. In the last four days, many of our fighters have been killed. The morale of the soldiers is down. The food items available from outside are not being received. They are becoming furious.

After seeing four days of the war, I have concluded that ordinary demons can't win the enemy. That is why O brave man! It seems to me that Kumbhakarna, Meghnad, you, or I will have to come forward to defeat the enemy. So today, you lead the war. You are a martial artist. These monkeys are playful and brave, but they are not trained. You can conquer them by war strategy. That's why oh hero! You go fast, kill all the enemies including Ram and Lakshman.

By looking the faith of Ravana on him, Prahasta said, "Today I will make you sure by destroying the enemy army with my incomparable might. Today, with the valor of my kirpan, I will please the ranchandi and kill the eagles, crows, jackals, etc. of the enemy. I will satisfy you by all means." Then he came on the battlefield with the army of terrible demons. Seeing Prahasta coming with force, Shri Ram asked Vibhishana "Who is this giant stout general?" Vibhishana replied- "O Lord! This is Prahastha, the Commander in chief of Ravana and the brave commander. He has the third part of Lanka's army. He is a very strong, mighty, and experienced fighter."

Then, Shri Ram said to Sugriva "O Vanaradhipati! It seems that Ravana has a lot of faith in him. You break the faith of Ravana by killing him. Ravana's morale will fall on his death." After a rigorous battle, Prahastha's head exploded and he died.
